I am sure this was a very difficult book to write. It has so many different heartbreaking aspects. I feel so sad thinking about this young girl who grew and up to a woman who never got kind of love she needed when she was young. I'm sure she will suffer for the actions of her parents for her whole life.I don't know why adults must do these things to children.We all need to have more empathy for children who suffer as this young lady did.

This is a really sad story but a book that needs to be read. I believe that some people in this world don't have any clue about what goes on in some children's lives and it is sad that the adults in this book turned a blind eye to what was going on to Toni. I don't understand the grandmother not talking to her own granddaughter for the rest of her life because her son violated his own daughter. She was just an innocent child. I cant believe adults in that town isolated and treated a child that way. Makes me sad to know that we live in that kind of world where the very people who should help this child is turning on her and blaming her. It is not right to say it was her fault for not telling. She did tell her mother and even if she did not tell her mother, she was a child for crying out loud and she was scared! In this story, there is a grown man raping his own daughter and continues this sickness for 7 more years until she becomes pregnant and then when he is caught, the town blame this child. Adults, including family stand by this grown man that violated an innocent child. To me, the town that supported her father is no better than the perpetrator. It seems to me that the people that turned on this child are sick in the head. I feel so bad for Toni but I read your second book as well and happy to know that you have found happiness. God loves you.

This true story was heart wrenching, I felt both sorry and angry that a father could do this to his child, sorry that this child couldn't tell anyone and angry that a father thought it was his right to do this to a little girl, he should have been locked away foreverVery well written but I couldn't read it again, too sad.

What a sad story. Just makes you sick when you read how a father treated his daughter and mom goes along with it. I know many children have suffered abuse of all kinds and shame on adults for letting that happen. Very good story, sad but true...

After an introductory discussion of profiling algorithms and some techniques to emulate pointers in VB, the author shows how to emulate a variety of data structures, such as linked lists, stacks and queues, and arrays, along with their implementations in VB.

Besides these basic container types, the author also proceeds farther afield into a demonstration of trees in VB, including balanced trees. (Though you won't need these data structures for most programs, it's interesting to see how they can be written in VB.)

More applicable to real-world problems are the sections on sorting, searching, and hashing in VB. (These algorithms can extend the range of the types of problems VB can solve.) As a student of computer science, I had a fundamental principle drilled into my head time and time again -- languages come and go, but algorithms stand the test of time. A good algorithms reference doesn't need to focus on a particular language; however, those books tend to be crammed with computer-scientists' jargon, and provide less than an ideal starting point for the novice programmer. Rod Stevens' Ready-to-Run Visual Basic Algorithms, Second Edition is an attempt to bridge the gap, to help people who know the rudiments of programming in Visual Basic (VB) experiment with tried-and-tested algorithms and incorporate them into their own programs.

To make sense of this book, you must already be familiar with variables, conditional statements, loops, subroutines, and abstract data types. Even more advanced topics, such as class declarations and static variables, are introduced and used so quickly that a novice programmer will probably need an additional reference. In other words, Ready-to-Run Visual Basic Algorithms is a logical "next step" for someone who has completed an introduction to VB programming, but you should make sure that you've understood at least one other book about VB before attempting to read this one.
